Case Study 1

A medical services company had the need to move large amounts of data, quickly and efficiently. Highway 1 designed a gigabit network to transfer data at the highest possible speeds between machines. Multiple switches were required, so links between switches needed to be multi-gigabit. Cisco 3750G switches were installed, which feature a 32 gigabit link between switches. Due to the electronically sensitive areas in which some work stations are positioned, normal copper cable was not suitable. Optic fibre cable was used to connect these work stations to the switches.

Case Study 2

A current Highway 1 customer approached us with the need to fit out their new multi-floored offices with managed switching technologies. Due to cabling restraints, a switch had to be deployed on each floor and then linked back to the core switch. Each switch was linked to the core via gigabit ethernet. The core switch was a Cisco 3550 switch, which is a fully gigabit, layer 3 managed switch. This enabled the links between all switches to be gigabit, and provided a routing functionality for multiple networks.
